Professor Stone talks 3-D printing and the tools making it popular

As 3-D printing gains attention, most recently with the announcement of a Somerville start-up obtaining $2 million in funding for their 3-D printed hand-held pen, those studying the recent design trend believe 3-D printing is primed for mainstream adoption. Visiting Art + Design professor Janos Stone, who this week is launching a 3-D printing iPhone app called Mecube, believes between apps like his and the possibilities 3-D printing enables, the trend is about to explode. “There’s all this magic around 3-D printing that I really think is starting to get people’s attention,” said Stone.
