Viral video spurs feminism discussion among youths

From blockbusters starring heroines like Jennifer Lawrence to Katie Couric being hired as Yahoo’s global anchor, there are many female accomplishments to celebrate as the year ends.

But one viral video, “‘How the Media Failed Women in 2013,” says things are not changing fast enough.

The video, produced by the The Representation Project, depicts in three minutes how women were portrayed in the media. Among them are the extreme use of Photoshop in ads, over-sexual videos of stars like Rihanna, and naked models selling everything from cars to hamburgers.
