INAM2015 – Creativity Lab

Instructor: Susan Picillo
CRN: 40857
Schedule: MTWR 11:40 am to 1:20 pm
NUterm | Summer 1 | Summer 2016
May 9 through June 23

Creativity Lab is CAMD’s innovative and unique option for NUterm, giving our students the opportunity to develop, critique, and present work in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Each week will include:

  1. a discussion of issues related to the creative process;
  2. days spent preparing the work itself;
  3. presentations/critiques of work in progress.

Students in Creativity Lab will learn an iterative and collaborative studio practice of making, critiquing, and presenting finished original work based upon their individual and collective ideas and intentions. At the conclusion of the course, the work from the students in the lab will be curated and displayed.

After Creativity Lab, students may apply for funding to continue their creative project. (Note: funding will be competitive and is not guaranteed.)

More NUterm Options

CAMD students also may also consider three additional NUterm options within the college.

Dialogue of Civilization
Spend NUterm abroad! Visit Northeastern’s Study Abroad website for more information.

Summer Internship
Spend NUterm building critical work experience and skills. Internships are a great way to strengthen your resume and skill set, and are a smart way to get a leg up on the competition when applying to your first co-op next year. Internships are typically between 10 and 20 hours per week, so you may also take one NUterm course as well.

NUterm Classes
Spend a couple of summer months in Boston for NUterm and take classes to make progress in your major and other requirements. Work with your academic advisor to select courses that make sense for you and your academic goals.

Application Materials

The application process for Creativity Lab is simple. Interested students should complete the four-question form below and send it electronically to Adam Smith (a.smith@neu.edu) by Monday, April 4, 2016.

If you are accepted to be a part of Creativity Lab, we will notify you and register you for the course. In the meantime, please register for two courses for NUterm. One of them will be replaced with Creativity Lab.

Please Note: Creativity Lab projects should not have been completed as part of another class or experience. However, projects in Creativity Lab may be a continuation of a previous completed project.
