Mauro Martino is an Italian artist, designer, inventor, and educator who investigates the impact of digital technologies on design. He currently leads the Cognitive Visualization Lab at the Watson Group in IBM. Previously he was an Assistant Research Professor at Northeastern University and a research affiliate with the SENSEable City Lab at MIT. He earned his his PhD in Design and Technologies at Politechnico di Millano, Italy. In this talk he will takes us through his work in how stories can be told through data visualizations. His work has been shown at international festivals including Ars Electronica, TEDx Cambridge THRIVE, and Art Galleries including The Serpentine Gallery (London), GAFTA (San Francisco). His work has also been featured on the cover of Nature and PNAS, as well as Nature Communication, Nature Physics, Popular Science, The Economist, The Financial Times, WIRED Magazine, The Guardian, BBC News, MIT News, and Harvard News.
