Jacobson is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Northeastern University and Visiting Professor at the School of Jewish Music at Hebrew College. He is also founder and director of the Zamir Chorale of Boston. Prof. Jacobson is Past President of the Massachusetts chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. He has been teaching and conducting at Northeastern since 1972.
The thousands of students who have sung under Josh’s baton are being invited back to campus for a choral reunion. Northeastern’s Music Department, College of Arts, Media & Design and the Office of Alumni Relations are co-sponsoring the event, which will include receptions, rehearsals and a concert at New England Conservatory’s incomparable Jordan Hall. On the program will be Norman Dello Joio’s Jubilant Song, Daniel Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata, Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs, and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy (featuring pianist Edwin Swanborn), and alumni will be invited to join the student chorus on stage.
The NU Choral Society, comprising the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, is the oldest and largest vocal ensemble at Northeastern University. The objectives of the Choral Society are to foster aesthetic and educational experiences through the rehearsal and performance of choral music, and to promote harmonious social interaction among members of the Northeastern community.
