This is Treatment is a musical inspired by writer and co-director Elizabeth Addison’s time at a residential treatment facility for substance use disorder. The musical specifically speaks to the experience of Black and Latinx women (of all hues) with substance use disorder and the process of their recovery and treatment. The production will be an immersive experience where the audience feels as if they are in treatment alongside the characters. While the production explores many challenging subjects (trauma, addiction, gentrification, food insecurity etc.), it also is full of joy and laughter. The goal of this production is to bridge any gaps to understanding, encourage empathy, and create a safe space for us, as a community to explore these challenging topics and heal together.

Content Warning:  This production includes adult and suggestive language and a depiction of a drug overdose, as well as references to sexual assault, domestic violence, suicide, loss of a child, and substance use and abuse.

COVID-19 Protocol On-Campus

As part of our continuing commitment to the health and safety of the Northeastern community, Northeastern is updating its protocols to require full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for external visitors attending indoor events.

All external visitors 12 and older who attend campus indoor events, including indoor athletics events and single-day conferences, are required to present one of the following forms of documentation:

• Proof of Vaccination: Either the original vaccination card or printed or digital documentation providing proof of being fully immunized, and for those 18 and over, a matching photo identification card in the same name as the COVID-19 vaccination card (state issued driver’s license, state issued ID card, or passport)
• Negative COVID-19 Test: Either a printed or digital PDF of a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours prior to the guest’s campus arrival or a negative PCR/molecular test or a negative rapid/antigen test administered by a healthcare professional that includes their name and the date of the test as proof; self-administered at-home rapid/antigen tests will not be accepted.

Masks are no longer required on campus.  Some of the performers in this production will be unmasked and others will be masked. Audience members may chose to wear a mask for the duration of the performance.
