Artist Daniel Anguilu started painting graffiti at an early age. His art — which appears mostly on freight trains and large-scale walls — has become increasingly more visible around his hometown of Houston, TX.
Anguilu’s style is deeply inspired by his Mexican heritage, and he paints with abstract shapes, animal imagery and vibrant color.
Daniel has traveled to many cities in the US, Mexico, Peru, Spain and Italy to paint murals. He has participated in group exhibitions at the Mexican Consulate of Houston, The Station Museum, Diverseworks, Aerosol Warfare Gallery and The Orange Show. And he has been commissioned to paint murals by Neiman Marcus, Glassell School of Art, Houston METRO, Lawndale Art Center and Converse.
Daniel will be on the Northeastern campus the week of April 22-28, 2014 to paint a new mural for the pedestrian bridge and retaining wall of the Ruggles MBTA, beside the Curry Student Center. This commission of this mural signifies an exciting new public art initiative on the Northeastern campus, which will feature the work of students, faculty, and other exciting artists from around the world.
