Architecture lecture: Fail fast

Eric Höweler, Höweler + Yoon Architecture

Höweler + Yoon Architecture LLP / MY Studio is a multidisciplinary practice, operating in the space between architecture, art, and landscape.  They believe in an embodied experience of architecture, seeing media as material and its effects as palpable elements of architectural speculation. While their work lies at the intersection of the conceptual and the corporeal, they are committed to both the practice-of and prospects-for architecture.  Engaged in projects of all scales, they are interested in the material realities and material effects of their work, testing interactions between their constructs and the larger public.  HYA/MYS’ multi-disciplinary projects include architecture, planning, interiors, installations, furniture, concept clothing and artist books.  HYA’s work is the subject of a recent monograph entitled: Expanded Practice, Höweler + Yoon Architecture / MY Studio, published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2009.

Awarded the Architecture League’s Emerging Voices award and Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard in 2007, HYA/MYS’ projects have been exhibited and published widely. Their work has been on exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the Institut Valencia d’Art Modern, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the National Art Center in Tokyo, Japan. Their projects have been published and reviewed in Architect Magazine, Architectural Record, Domus, The Village Voice, Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Lighting, I.D. Magazine, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Financial Times.  They have lectured about their work widely both nationally and internationally.
