Art + Design majors may spend a semester studying in Italy at Studio Art College International, where students draw inspiration from the Italian culture while receiving academic credit. Or they may take summer trips to Ireland, where students work in their own studios. The Dialogue of Civilizations program takes Northeastern students around the world to experience different cultures through intensive summer programs in more than 20 different countries. Participants meet with government leaders, local groups, and students for one-on-one discovery.
Students may learn a new language, take part in a service-learning project, conduct research, or study a specific area of interest.
Students can immerse themselves in new cultures by pursuing an international co-op. The professional experience gained through these placements is broader and deeper than the experience offered in traditional foreign-study programs.
Finally, students can also pursue a traditional study-abroad program. Architecture students at our program in Berlin contrast the city’s ultramodern commercial and bureaucratic architecture with the corroded walls and incomplete spaces that still characterize much of the urban landscape.
