Benjamin Peek teaches studio and building technology courses at Northeastern. Benjamin is a graduate from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design Master in Design Studies (MDes) applied research program where he primarily focused on mass timber construction. Grounded on the idea of built manifestation as media, he investigated iterative methods for the integration of forestry, construction, and heat transfer feedbacks into mass timber buildings; part design build experimentation, part thermodynamic inquiry.
Benjamin also holds a Master of Architecture degree from the nationally recognized Studio 804 program at the University of Kansas. His experiences include working as a ‘jack-of-all’ trades laborer in residential construction, designer, & researcher in academia. Recently, he has imbedded himself in the intersection of design and construction at Gilbane Building Company in search of new innovative technologies and processes. His applied design research has laid the groundwork for much of his success in system based processes, model based workflows, and ultimately find new ways of constructing buildings.
