Ron Starr

Production Manager

Ron Starr is the Production Manager for CAMD. He was involved in the design of the facilities within Shillman Hall, working with architects and engineers to create a state-of-the-art media production facility that allows full student interaction with industry-standard equipment.
Starr has local roots, growing up in Danvers and graduating from St. John’s Prep. He holds a BA degree in Biology and English from Bucknell University (’79) and an MBA from Northeastern University (99).
In the early 1980’s, Starr began work in television in the accounting department at WNEV-TV in Boston (now WHDH), later moving into the production area as an Assistant Director. He moved to WLVI-TV in 1986, serving first as a Sports Producer for the Ten O’Clock News, then as a News Assistant Director. A year long stint as a technician/engineer in 1988 was followed by the opportunity to serve as a Producer/Director for the station.
In 1993, Starr moved to Northeastern, where he uses his television background to work with students as an educator, advisor, mentor, and adjunct professor in several departments. He continues to work as a freelance director in the Boston and international markets. Individual projects include producer, director & editor credits for numerous documentaries and educational videos.
He has two sons– Dan (NU ’12) and Wade (NU ’11)– and lives in Amesbury, MA
