Waves of Hidden Histories: 隱藏歷史的浪潮

Design by Chen Luo.

Waves of Hidden Histories // 隱藏歷史的浪潮 features artworks by Lani Asunción and Joanna Tam created during their time at Northeastern University in the 2025-2026 Hidden Histories Artist-in-Residence Program, “Weaving Through History and Activism in Boston Chinatown,” supported by the Reckonings Project. During this year-long residency, the artists conducted research at the Northeastern Archives and Special Collections and facilitated hands-on workshops with the university community and throughout Boston, specifically in Chinatown.

Their work is a response to the continued erasure of collective memory and neighborhood resilience affecting the diverse Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) and diaspora community in Boston. The narratives in this exhibition span from the history of Boston Dragon Boat Festivals since 1979 to recent community activism.
