Journalism grad student looks at civil rights news coverage

Working alongside Northeastern University law students in the Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project, journalism graduate student, Meg Heckman, was asked to assist the investigations into the project’s cold murder cases from the civil rights era.  In an article for the “Columbia Journalism Review,” August 28, Heckman writes about the newspaper coverage of murders of African American’s during this era.  In the article, “On civil rights coverage, a look back,” she said while some newspapers have apologized for inaccurate reporting, more newspapers should.
