UNITED SOUTH END SETTLEMENTS

Mission: to disrupt the cycle of poverty for children and their families via accessible resources such as programs and coaching. Programs include: early childhood program, club48 After School and Summer program, Camp Hale leadership development program, STEAM curriculum, and job training/placement. Coaching includes: participant-driven goal setting, planning, overcoming barriers, and providing support and accountability.

LITTLE BROTHERS-FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY (Dementia Friends)

Mission: to relieve social isolation and loneliness commonly experienced amongst the elderly by offering emotional and physical support. Goal is to help elderly maintain their independence while helping them feel connected to the larger community. Their motto is flowers before bread, which is the idea support and joy should be prioritized over everyday sustenance.

EVERYDAY BOSTON

Mission: To increase curiosity and connection within Boston, primarily through the sharing of stories. Stories are shared via the Everyday Boston website where Bostonians interview their neighbors, which serves to broaden the worldview of young people, break stereotypes and enhance community empathy. Programs include Story Ambassadors, Community Events, and Youth Workshops.

MUJERES UNIDAS AVANZADO (MUA)

Mission: to provide low income Latinas with the tools needed to empower themselves and effect liberating changes by meeting educational needs and helping them build skills. MUA encourages leadership roles for Latina women both within the organization and within the community. Services include classes, child care services, and social services. Classes focus on ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), computers, and the GED while social services range from health workshops, career and education advising, and field trips to Boston Landmarks and colleges.

ROUND TABLE, INC

Mission: To help adolescents and families in South Boston and the surrounding communities before times of family crisis and to prevent future alcohol and substance abuse issues amongst teens via abstinence, athletics and art programs. Traditionally focused on adult recovery and rehabilitation, Round Table is shifting their focus towards adolescents. Many of their existing programs are centered around engaging adolescents in sports as well as ensuring that all children have food to eat in their homes.
