Carnegie Hall Premiere of Allen Feinstein’s New Composition

On Sunday, October 9 at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, clarinetist Marguerite Levin will offer the premiere performance of a new work by Prof. Allen Feinstein.  The concert is entitled Clarinessence: Five Premieres Inspired by Five Decades. The new Feinstein composition is a dramatic and comic work for solo clarinet entitled I Was a Teenage Clarinetist, with movements entitled Eleven, Thirteen, Sixteen, and Eighteen.  In addition to the premiere, included in the repertoire for the concert is another Feinstein composition, Jesse’s Band of Thieves, for clarinet, baritone voice, and piano.  Jesse tells the story of a bandit of the Old West, whose newly discovered love of playing classical music leads to his downfall.
