Prof. Price elected CEO and Chairman of the Board of JazzBoston

Emmett G. Price III

JazzBoston has elected Emmett G. Price III, professor of music, minister, musician, co-producer of the John Coltrane Memorial Concert and one of the nation’s leading experts on African American music and culture, to the position of Chief Executive Officer and the new role of Chairman of the Board. JazzBoston (www.jazzboston.org) is the umbrella and advocacy organization for Greater Boston’s jazz community.

Price, a JazzBoston board member since 2007, will take over leadership of the nonprofit jazz advocacy group from Pauline Bilsky, its founding CEO and Executive Director. Bilsky, who is shifting her role to focus on public advocacy and neighborhood and community initiatives, remains President of JazzBoston.

Named by the Boston Business Journal in 2013 as one of 40 influential business and civic leaders under 40, Price is a widely recognized author, consultant and speaker on music of the African Diaspora, black popular culture and hip hop. For over a decade, his course on jazz has remained one of the most popular at Northeastern. A frequent presence in print and on television and radio, Price is currently a regular contributor to WGBH-FM’s “Boston Public Radio” with Jim Braude and Margery Eagan.
