Studying in Boston

The Department of Music at CAMD is fortunate to be located in the cultural heart of Boston, on the Avenue of the Arts, and just steps from the Museum of Fine Arts, Huntington Theatre, the New England Conservatory, Boston Symphony Hall, and a variety of other museums and performance venues.

A tradition of music—and a thriving community

Boston’s rich musical history and culture—epitomized on a professional level by renowned ensembles and venues like the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), the Boston Pops, nationally celebrated jazz clubs, and the Downtown Crossing district—is enhanced by the flourishing community of aspiring and established music professionals around the city.

In addition to the close, longstanding relationships Northeastern shares with the BSO, Symphony Hall, and other storied ensembles and venues, we partner with the nearby New England Conservatory to offer a joint performance certificate for a select group of highly competitive student performers who wish to combine aspects of conservatory-level musical training with the wide-ranging academic opportunities of a top-tier university.

This commitment to cooperating across institutions to provide students with opportunities of the highest caliber is just one example of the collegial quality that defines Boston’s musical community—and one more reason that students of CAMD’s Department of Music are so successful after graduation.
