Music department Professor Psyche Loui sat down with News at Northeastern to discuss her research on music and cognition. Her award-winning research uses MRI technology to analyze music’s effects on the reward centers within the brain. “Evolutionarily it serves you to guess what’s going to happen,” says Loui. “If you guess right, you’ll be rewarded.”
