The National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR) profiled Prof. Leon Janikian in its recent newsletter. For several years, Janikian as been digitizing thousands of 78 RPM recording of early 20th Century Armenian and Turkish musicians. Janikian founded the Archive of Armenian Music in America to store and restore for posterity the aural history and traditions of the Armenian American Community. This collection will be merged with a collection curated by the NAASR and will become the only nearly complete aural catalogue of this body of recorded music.
