Unstoppable is the word to describe the growing Department of Theatre at Northeastern. This year, the number of student productions is expanding, and joining the department to oversee the season’s design process and technical elements is a new production manager, Marti McIntosh. McIntosh has had a successful career as a stage manager on Broadway and in America’s most prestigious regional theatres prior to her arrival at Northeastern in August.
“A production manager provides the organizational structure that enables actors, designers, and directors to do their best creative work,” said chair Scott Edmiston. “I have known Marti for more than 10 years and feel confident she will ensure the highest quality productions at Northeastern. She will also mentor student stage managers and help connect them to professional opportunities. Her professional network is amazing.”
McIntosh has stage managed five Broadway productions, as well as eight Off Broadway productions. Her New York credits include Lincoln Center Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, Cherry Lane Theatre, Naked Angels, and Signature Theatre Company. She stage managed the national tours of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and On Golden Pond. Regionally, she spent five seasons with the Tony Award-winning Huntington Theatre Company; four seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival; and two seasons at ArtsEmerson. McIntosh has a BFA in Stage Management from Boston University and an MS in Arts Administration from BU’s Metropolitan College.
“I’m so excited to be joining the Northeastern theatre community,” McIntosh said. “There is a remarkable variety and quality of work being produced here. I’m impressed by the experience and talent in the faculty and this year’s guest designers. l look forward to mentoring students and helping the program continue to grow and thrive. I cannot wait to meet the entire coterie and really get this year rolling.”
