Congratulations to Carlene Hempel, lecturer, School of Journalism, who was one of two winners of the 2016 Excellence in Teaching Award. In announcing the award, College of Arts, Media, and Design Dean, Elizabeth Hudson said, “It is a pleasure to celebrate her dedication, hard work and commitment to students.”
“All of us, when we look back at our college experience, remember that memorable teacher who pushed us a little harder, challenged us a little more, saw something in us that ignited a passion. Carlene Hempel is that teacher and we are so proud to have her on the Journalism faculty,” said Jonathan Kaufman, director, School of Journalism.
Nominations for this annual univeristy-wide award are made by students, alumni, and faculty members. According to the Provost’s website, the “…Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes members of Northeastern’s full-time faculty who have demonstrated a pattern of sustained excellence in teaching.”
