Northeastern University’s School of Architecture is pleased to announce that a project by Landing Studio, co-founded by Associate Professor Dan Adams, was the winner of a 2017 National AIA Award for Regional & Urban Design. The project, Rock Chapel Marine, is the redevelopment of a shuttered oil terminal into a road salt transshipment facility and waterfront park in a community attuned to issues of environmental justice. It proposes an innovative solution to issues that arise when contemporary waterfront development collides with regulations aimed at protecting marine industrial uses, this project balances industry, recreation, and wildlife habitat.

The project is one of five recognized by the AIA, selected by a jury of industry professionals from around the country. View the other recipients here.

Congratulations to Dan Adams and his team at Landing Studio! Read more about the project in Architect Magazine.
