Anita Shriver

Anita Shriver, AMD’12 won Boston’s highest theatre honor, the 2014 Elliot Norton Award, for her property designs on Company One’s The Flick. The New England premiere of Annie Baker’s play received rave reviews when it opened in March 2014 at the Modern Theatre in Boston.

Anita has designed for Guerilla Opera and Boston Lyric Opera, and has done interactive designs for the Bronx Zoo, the Coney Island Aquarium, and ION Television. “My success outside of Northeastern is due in large part to the excellent group of professors and the visiting artists who encouraged students to do as much theatre, inside and out of the university, as possible,” she said.

The Elliot Norton Awards were held May 19, 2014. They are named for the eminent Boston theater critic and presented the Boston Theater Critics Association. The ceremony was attended by Boston mayor Marty Walsh and Northeastern Distinguished Professor and former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, who presented a special award to his cousin, Academy Award-winning actress Olympia Dukakis.
