Analog Holodeck Project: Participatory Theater Game Jam

The College of Arts, Media and Design is pleased to announce The Analog Holodeck Project which is a practice-based, interdisciplinary arts research initiative whose aim is to study and develop strategies and methods for engaging meaningful agency in participatory theatrical experiences. The project will launch with a Participatory Theatre Game Jam August 20-22 at the Northeastern campus in Boston that brings together creative minds from theatre, games, and live action roleplaying to explore the intersection of play and participation within live theatrical events.

Our goals will be to:  Develop a shared vocabulary and set of references across disciplines; employ and refine traditional and emerging methods from our respective fields; invent new methods through interdisciplinary collaboration; and incubate new interdisciplinary projects aimed at advancing audience agency in live experiences.

Details
August 20, 21st, and 22nd, 10am-6pm
Where: Northeastern University, Boston, MA
Ryder Theatre Lab, Ryder Hall 334

We will pursue funding to support some of these projects, and Northeastern students will develop some of them in a studio course the following semester. We also hope to generate a collection of essays based on the outcomes of the game jam, the shape of which will be determined by the group.
