Janos Stone is a Design Lecturer at Northeastern University in the Department of Art + Design. Stone’s interdisciplinary style involving teaching and research combines art and design with 3D digital media to develop newly accessible creative tools for everyone. Stone is the faculty mentor for Spark Gallery, the student run contemporary art gallery, and BFA in Studio Art students (in collaboration with School of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston).
In addition to teaching, Stone is an artist and serial entrepreneur. He is currently co-founder and Chief of Product for Kwambio. Kwambio partners with established and emerging designers to produce a highly curated collection of customizable homeware, accessories, and art, manufactured on demand. In addition, Stone founded and built a variety of design on demand products, including the first 3D printing application, Mecube.
Stone’s artistic oeuvre cross pollinates nascent 3D technology, human/digital relationships with object customization. He has exhibited his work across the United States and internationally, including the DUMBO Arts Center and Art Basel, Miami.
Stone holds a BFA in Sculpture and Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a MFA in sculpture from Boston University. He has given numerous talks and interviews on the subject of emerging design technologies.
