The 38th annual Friends of John Coltrane Memorial Concert (fJCMC) in collaboration with the Northeastern Center for the Arts, presents the 2015 John Coltraine memorial Concert, ORNETE ‘N’ TRANE. The first memorial concert was performed in Boston in 1977, the 10th year anniversary of Coltrane’s death. The annual Friends of John Coltrane Memorial Concert has a tradition of presenting world-class musicians and this year is no exception.

ORNETE ‘N ‘TRANE will be performed by the John Coltrane Memorial Ensemble, featuring Boston based master jazz musicians Carl Atkins, Billy Buss, Jeff Galindo, Laszlo Gardony, Yoron Israel, John Lockwood, Jason Palmer, Rick Stepton, Stan Strickland, and Bobby Tynes and Leonard Brown. Performances will be hosted by WGBH’s Eric Jackson

The John Coltrane Memorial Concert is produced by Leonard Brown, retired Associate Professor of Music & African American Studies and Emmett G. Price III, Associate Professor of Music and former chair of the Department of African American Studies at Northeastern.

Northeastern University’s Blackman Auditorium is conveniently located right off of the MBTA Green Line (Northeastern University stop) and within a short walk of the Orange Line (Ruggles stop).
