Congratulations to Amy Shirong Lu, associate professor of communication studies at CAMD and health sciences at Bouvé College of Health Sciences, for earning the Gerald M. Phillips Award for Distinguished Applied Communication Scholarship from the National Communication Association.
“Dr. Lu’s scholarship explores the power of narratives in interactive communication technologies informed by an interdisciplinary and community-engaged approach in the greater Boston area. This program of research has been supported by an impressive record of securing external grant funding and demonstrates great promise in shaping the future of health communication, community-engaged, and applied scholarship at large,” the NCA noted in their announcement.
Lu has three key focuses at the intersection of communication and health: narrative as behavorial motivators, mediated characters in interactive media, and digital media use and neurobehavioral effects. You can read more about Lu’s research on her website.
