Greg Goodale, Associate Dean of the College of Arts, Media and Design and Associate Professor of Communication Studies, recently commented on why so many Republican presidential candidates are taking part in a new wave of online campaigning – funny videos.

Voters can watch Ted Cruz cook bacon on a machine gun or Carly Fiorina in her new comedy short “If Men Were Treated Like Women In The Office” or former surgeon Ben Carson play a game of Operation. All of it, according to Professor Goodale, is in search of free media coverage.

There are too many candidates and not enough space on the airways to support television commercials for each of them in early voting states, Goodale said.
