Ian Canning is the Assistant Dean for Mobility, Executive, and Partner Programs in the Northeastern University College of Arts, Media and Design. In this role, he is focused on developing cutting-edge programs, cultivating strategic industry partnerships, and strengthening cross-disciplinary connections across academic units, research centers, Northeastern global campuses, and external partners.
Prior to joining Northeastern’s College of Arts, Media and Design, Ian served as the Associate Dean in Southern Connecticut State University’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies. While in in this role, he orchestrated the creation of several accelerated undergraduate-to-graduate pathway programs, developed executive education programs for regional employers, and managed a portfolio of open-enrollment and customized professional development certificates. His professional career in higher education includes a breadth of experience within the community college system, private institutions in the tri-state area, and public university settings.
