Lee Moreau

Lee Moreau is a Professor of the Practice in Design at Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media and Design where he teaches undergraduate and graduate-level design courses. Prior to rejoining Northeastern’s faculty, Lee was a Visiting Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for five years where he taught design courses on human-centered design (4.051) and Design Across Scales (4.110) in MIT’s School of Architecture.

Lee is also the founding director of Other Tomorrows, a design and strategy studio based in Boston. As an architect turned strategist, Lee combines a unique capacity for complex systems thinking with a deeply empathic perspective, which he uses to critically engage and re-imagine the contemporary world. Through creative consulting engagements, he helps his clients lead efforts to understand their customers’ needs and values, create new offerings and experiences, and foster cultural change within their organizations.

Lee has led service and experience design projects for a diverse group of clients—such as Southwest Airlines, BBVA, Google, P&G, Nike, Chili’s, Kerzner International, Novartis, Mercy Health System, Kaiser-Permanente, ARPA-H, Essity, Eli Lilly, the City of Boston, and the American Red Cross—that blur the boundaries between content and experience. Through research, analysis, and imagination, Lee helps his clients understand their entanglement within their own complex set of cultural, material, and economic circumstances. Prior to forming Other Tomorrows, Lee was VP, Design at Continuum, Director of Environments at 2×4, and worked as a designer at IDEO and at the Rockwell Group.

In addition to leading a consulting practice and teaching design, Lee has been on the editorial team at Design Observer—a media platform dedicated to exploring the intersection of design, social innovation, urbanism, popular culture, and criticism—since 2019. He co-hosted the The Design of Business | The Business of Design, a two-day conference at MIT’s Samberg Conference Center on September 14–15, 2019 and launched and hosted the Design Observer podcasts The Futures Archive in 2021 and Design As (soon premiering its third season!) in 2023.
