Patrick Kana

Patrick is an award winning furniture designer, artist, and educator who creates work that is centered around material exploration within both natural and architectural form. He leads the operations of all makerspaces within CAMD, which include woodworking, digital fabrication, electronics, textiles, and general model making facilities. Technical instruction, curricular integration, and the direction of Makerspace professional and student staff teams for these facilities are all coordinated by Patrick. Prior to Northeastern, Patrick served as the Studio Technician and Visiting Assistant Professor of Art and Architecture at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. In addition to academic work, Patrick maintains his personal practice called Kana Studios LLC, and continues to exhibit work across the US. He is represented by Atelier Contemporary in Newport, RI and Triangle Gallery in Rockland, ME and has work in private collections across the U.S. and in Europe.

In addition to his role within the Media Studios Organization, Patrick has also been Part-Time Faculty for the both the School of Architecture and Art & Design Department since 2019. Most recently, Patrick was a recognized with one of the 2024 High Impact Teacher Awards from CAMD, as well as the 2024 Excellence in Teaching Award for CAMD.
