Professor of the practice and theatre department chair Scott Edmiston has received exceptional recognition for his reimagining of “My Fair Lady.” The latest commendation comes from a Wall Street Journal theater review. The production is being shown at the Lyric Stage Company in Boston and runs until October 11.

I’ve seen some fine “My Fair Ladies” in the past, but I’ve never seen one … that did a better job of conveying the sweet romanticism that Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe slipped into George Bernard Shaw’s skewering of the British class system. The results are—as Lerner might have put it—loverly … Mr. Edmiston has stripped it down to its expressive essentials, then polished them to an eye-popping degree of brightness. … You’ll come away feeling that you never quite understood “My Fair Lady” before, and loving it even more than you did going in.
