Department Chair and Professor of the Practice Scott Edmiston was honored with the 2016 Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Director (Midsized Theatre) for his productions of Casa Valentina at SpeakEasy Stage Company and My Fair Lady at the Lyric Stage Company of Boston. My Fair Lady also won Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Actress in a Musical. This is Edmiston’s fourth directing “Nortie” since 1998. Previously, he was honored for his direction of  Molly Sweeney, Five by Tenn, The History Boys, The Light in the Piazza, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof . In 2011, he received Boston theatre’s highest honor, the Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence, joining previous recipients Julie Harris, Sir Ian McKellen, Peter Sellars, Julie Taymor, Cherry Jones, and Sir Christopher Plummer.  This completes Edmiston’s directorial “triple crown” for My Fair Lady. In March he received the Arts Impulse Award for Best Director of a Musical and in April, the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Award for Best Director of a Musical.
