Save the date for a Fun Home post-performance talk following the 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21st performance. Hillary Chute, Northeastern’s  Professor and a leading comics scholar whose book Graphic Women examines Bechdel’s work, will be in conversation with director Jonathan Carr.

Production Synopsis
Life in the Bechdel Funeral Home was confusing, full of cadavers and lovingly-restored antiques, barely hidden affairs and childish games, explosive tempers and unyielding expectations. Fun Home tells the story of Alison Bechdel’s complex relationship with her closeted father, and the damage his obsessions and unfulfilled desires wreaked at home. She unpacks her own growth as a lesbian cartoonist alongside her quest to understand his sudden death. Come to the Fun Home, award-winning musical adaptation of Bechdel’s groundbreaking graphic memoir that explores the ongoing mystery of the past and the present, and the puzzle of our evolving identities.

Jonathan Carr directs this production, with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. Presented in collaboration with the Northeastern University Department of Theatre.
