Join the CAMD Office of the Dean for a conversation with Nonny de la Peña, Founding Director of Arizona State University’s Narrative and Emerging Media Program, and Founder and CEO of Emblematic Group. The talk will be titled: Embodied Narrative: Storytelling and Emerging Technologies.

De la Peña is a pioneer of “immersive journalism, a form of storytelling that combines technology, like 3D animation, and field audio recordings to give users a first-person experience of events. As a journalist and filmmaker, she has covered food insecurity, prison conditions at Guantanamo Bay, child refugees from Syria and the Trayvon Martin case. Most recently, she was awarded the Peabody Field Builder Award for her VR work.

This Dean’s Distinguished Lecture is co-sponsored by the Department of Art + Design, the Department of Communication Studies, the School of Journalism, the Center for Design, the Media Studios Organization, the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, and the XR Initiative.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. There will be a short reception after the event.
