Peter Mancusi is a lawyer, crisis manager, and former veteran journalist with extensive experience advising companies, organizations, and individuals facing intense public scrutiny.
For more than 15 years, Peter led the issues and crisis management practice in the Boston office of Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s largest public relations firms, providing communications counsel on a wide range of issues in sectors including, health care, higher education, financial services, biotech, philanthropy, and the arts. In early 2022, Peter launched his own practice.
Peter regularly collaborates with lawyers on behalf of their clients and conducts audits to assist clients in identifying vulnerabilities that carry reputational threats. He develops response plans to ensure they have the processes in place to effectively respond to and mitigate reputational matters.
Peter has worked closely with many companies and their senior leaders to frame and tell their stories to the media, become thought leaders, and establish relationships with journalists. He has conducted media trainings in Boston and around the country to help executives give effective interviews.
Peter was a staff member of The Boston Globe for more than 20 years. He was a reporter on the Spotlight Team and then became the Globe’s legal affairs correspondent. Later he served as local political editor and city editor. He also was the Globe’s business editor for nearly four years, directing a major expansion of the section’s coverage, including the launches of biotech and technology and innovation sections.
As a lawyer, Peter was a litigator at the Globe’s law firm, Bingham Dana, focusing on media law. He is a member of the Massachusetts bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts, the First Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.
Peter is a graduate of Northeastern University and Boston College Law School. He was also a John S. Knight journalism fellow at Stanford University.
