Toad D-Day Music Video

Assignment Description: The Dataset: At the core of machine learning algorithms (as well as discussions about algorithmic fairness) are the datasets used to train machine learning classifiers. More than the specific algorithm used, the content of a training corpus determines the results of a machine learning algorithm. The goal of this project is to create or use a dataset for creative purposes.

My project, Toad D-Day Music Video, was created using the song Primo Victoria put through the website Musicfy to sound as if Toad from Mario Bros was singing it, placed over images of AI generated art from Microsoft AI image generator, DALL-E 3, and Civit AI.

Some things I found funny are the various functions on Muscify to balance this AI generated song, making toad’s voice not replace the instrumentals, which would result in an almost incomprehensible output, and also how there are still segments where the original voice of Joakim Brodén, Sabaton’s lead singer, can be heard instead of AI toad in the final output, as well as weird quirks that ended up in the music. The AI images had some funny quirks as well, such as the almost signatures that can be seen in the bottom of some images that imply the scraping of art that should be credited in the production of these images, as well as the funny ways I had to generate the prompts to get what I wanted. Toad is more known as a type of frog than the character, so I had to fumble with terms such as “Toad from Mario” “Toad mushroom kingdom” that each ended up with their fair share of weird results, some of which can be seen in the video.
