Ruggles Laser Lab
The Laser Lab is an integral component of the Ruggles Makerspaces, a collection of fabrication spaces equipped with the essential tools to support the School of Architecture and it’s curriculum.
These facilities, in addition to our CNC Lab and Hand Tool Areas, are supported and maintained by CAMD Makerspace Staff. The combination of accessible equipment and professional staff ensure that students and faculty are supported through their integration of creative fabrication within their architectural practice.
The Laser Lab features advanced technology for precise cutting and engraving, while the 3D Print Area offers resources for additive manufacturing. Both spaces are tailored for collaborative projects and educational use, enhancing the teaching and learning of digital fabrication techniques.
The lab features three 60 Watt Universal VLS6.60 laser cutters (18-by-32-inch bed) and one 100 Watt Universal PLS6.150 laser cutter (18-by-32-inch bed). These machines can be used to cut paper, cardboard, thin wood, and acrylic.
