Marketing for a Footwear & Apparel Conglomerate

Area of Emphasis: Strategic Communication

Danielle’s first co-op experience with New Balance motivated her next move to work for a competitor, analyze differences, and strengthen her resume in the corporate retail sector. This led her to the fun, easy-going atmosphere at Reebok International, headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts, just 20 miles south of Northeastern’s campus.

A subsidiary of the Adidas Group, Reebok is a leading worldwide designer, marketer and distributor of fitness and lifestyle, footwear, apparel and equipment with $5.5 billion in net income. Its headquarters feature baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, and a state-of-the-art fitness center – all in line with the company’s mission to inspire fitness as a way of life.

As a marketing assistant, Danielle’s primary responsibilities included collecting competitor research, planning events, coordinating photo shoots, and creating marketing tools with a focus on the season’s product line.

“I was so lucky to be given so much responsibility working for Reebok. I would say the most valuable part of my co-op was having the opportunity to travel with my team. I went to New York City for a short-lead product launch event, as well as Las Vegas for Reebok’s Global Brand Conference. Both trips were extremely memorable and allowed me to see the hard work we put in outside of the office.”

Danielle was able to bring critical skills to Reebok thanks to courses she took in her Communication Studies major, most notably Research Methods and Organizational Communication.

“This co-op really helped me to fine-tune my career goals. I had discovered in my first co-op that I really loved working with corporate retail. This co-op confirmed that while also showing me the importance of working for a company with such a fun, positive environment.”
