Call for Curatorial Submissions: “Report the Pulse”
DEADLINE: November 16th DEADLINE EXTENDED: November 24th
Spark is a new, student-run, contemporary art gallery at Northeastern University. Founded by Kristina Hagman and Mollie Davis, the gallery is meant to be a channel between the student community in Back Bay and contemporary art. The gallery mandate is to educate the university and community at large about local and international contemporary art, with a focus on the Boston art scene. In addition, the gallery serves to educate in the practice of art appreciation, the business of art, gallery, management and the creation of new ideas and new art forms.
Spark is looking for curatorial submissions for its inaugural exhibition.
All proposals are welcome and will be judged based on the concept of the project, the quality of the curation, and the fit with the mission of Spark.
Proposals should include:
- a short bio about yourself
- a paragraph about the show concept
- images of the artist’s work you intend to curate into your exhibition. Please note: Spark is not intended to showcase student schoolwork. If one or more of the artists is a student, please choose work that is outside of typical class assignments.
- proposed budget
- ideas for associated events and audience development
In addition, we want to meet you if you are interested in arts administration, curation, marketing, law, and business. Ideally the gallery will “take the pulse” of today’s new art and ideas one show at a time.
Please send your submissions to Mollie Davis, [email protected]
