Associate Academic Specialist Mike Frengel’s book The Unorthodox Guitar: A Guide to Alternative Performance Practice (Oxford University Press, 2017) was released on March 7. The book details extended performance techniques and instrumental preparations, along with practical strategies for incorporating a computer into a guitar rig while preserving the tone and innovative ideas about sound projection in live contexts.

Frengel has also been invited to be Guest Composer to the annual contemporary music festival at the University of Florida from April 7-9. He will present a concert of original works, and lead a masterclass on composing for guitar.
