Ala Ebrahimi is a game designer, researcher, and Ph.D. student in the Interdisciplinary Design and Media program at Northeastern University. Her research focuses on how games can authentically represent lived experiences through metaphors and fictionalization, with a particular interest in procedural rhetoric.
Ala examines how interactive systems can communicate personal stories that are difficult to express through traditional media. Her work explores the design strategies used in biographical and autobiographical games and how these strategies foster emotional connection. She is particularly interested in how games can depict lived human experiences and emotions, such as grief, displacement, uncertainty, hope, belonging, love, and loss.
