Brian Demar Jones

Director for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

This is Brian’s first show with Northeastern and he is very excited to be joining this artistic family. He taught the History of Musical Theater in the Fall of 2023 as a Lecturer. Originally from Brooklyn, he moved to Natick almost three years ago to pursue his career as an educator at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts where he teaches acting to 9-12th graders. He continues to work as a professional actor and director all around New England. He studied theatre at SUNY Binghamton and earned his MFA in Acting from the University of Washington in Seattle. Some directing credits include: She Kills Monsters, Into the Woods, Rumors, Our Town, Sweet Eros, Love’s Labour’s Lost, and Henry IV, Part 1 at SUNY New Paltz. As an actor he was seen in the Umbrella Stage Company’s production of Rent directed by Julia Deiter and The Color Purple by BW Gonzalez. In previous years he actually played in three productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Brian is grateful to be continuing his relationship with Northeastern University and being given the opportunity to direct one of his favorite musicals.
