Jessica Roseman

Jessica Roseman is the 2026-27 Northeastern Center for the Arts PhD Fellow, where she leads the founding doctoral affiliates cohort and develops infrastructure for embodied arts research programming at Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media & Design (CAMD).

A choreographer, curator, and movement educator, Jessica’s practice-based somatic research explores how embodied attention shapes perception and participation in public space. Drawing on Black embodied feminism and maternal studies, her work examines how movement design can cultivate agency, belonging, and care.

Jessica brings formal training in the Feldenkrais Method, GYROTONIC, and Neuromuscular Therapy. Movement, for Roseman, is a civic and aesthetic practice, one she designs specifically for people who may not see themselves reflected in dance techniques or somatic spaces.

Roseman is the choreographer and director of Jessica Roseman Dance, and the creator of Nourish, a multiyear movement framework centering community somatic practices. She curates arts programming at The Dance Complex. Her work has been presented, commissioned, or developed through organizations including CultureHouse, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, ICA Boston, Global Arts Live, Here + Now, Movement Research, and Miami Light Project. Jess was a MASS MoCA Residency Fellow, and held residency at Atlantic Center for the Arts. She was an honored panelist for NEFA’s Public Art Impact Convening. She has consulted for NEFA, Cambridge Arts, Cambridge Community Foundation, Mandel Foundation, and Arts Equity Group. She has received public funding support, including from the MAP Fund and New England Foundation for the Arts’ Public Art for Spatial Justice grant. She was named a Featured Changemaker in the Cambridge Community Foundation’s Social Cohesion Exhibition. Her writing is published in Maternal Ecologies (Demeter Press) and the forthcoming Gathering Sparks (Punctum Books), both in 2026. She holds a BA with Honors in Dance and African American Studies from Wesleyan University and was appointed to the New England Foundation for the Arts Regional Dance Development Initiative.
