Kenny Finkle

Kenneth (Kenny) Finkle is a playwright, theatre-maker, educator, and podcaster whose work explores how stories are shaped by form, collaboration, memory, and cultural context. He teaches playwriting and theatre-making at Northeastern University, where his courses focus on artistic process, new play development, collaboration, and helping students cultivate sustainable creative practices and individual artistic voices.

Finkle’s creative work spans stage plays, audio drama, podcasts, immersive performance, and interdisciplinary theatrical experiments. His writing frequently investigates themes of identity, memory, popular culture, and the ways individuals construct narratives about themselves and their communities. His play TOUCH received its world premiere at East Village Basement in New York City, starring Anthony Rapp and directed by Jonathan Silverstein. Developed over several years through readings, workshops, and public presentations, the work explores questions of belief, human connection, and personal transformation. Its evolution through multiple stages of development reflects Finkle’s belief that theatre is built through collaboration, experimentation, and the ongoing conversation between artists and audiences. His audio drama 1993, produced by Keen Company’s Hear/Now series, examined memory, queer identity, and the lingering impact of the AIDS epidemic through an innovative serialized format.

In addition to his theatrical work, Finkle is the co-creator and co-host of the podcast All I Want to Do Is Talk About Madonna, a long-running exploration of Madonna’s music, cultural influence, and artistic legacy. The project reflects his broader interest in fandom, cultural memory, performance, and the stories people tell about the artists who shape their lives.

As a teacher and artist, Finkle is interested in how creative work develops through dialogue, reflection, revision, and collaboration. Whether in the classroom, rehearsal room, or performance space, he is committed to creating environments where curiosity, risk-taking, and discovery can thrive. He lives and works in New York City, where he continues to develop new plays and interdisciplinary performance projects. For more about Kenny go to his website – finklefactory.org.
