Matthew Brian Cost

Lighting Designer for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Matthew Brian Cost is a Boston-based lighting designer whose work has appeared in hundreds of productions throughout greater New England, as well as more far-flung corners such as Macau and Queretaro, Mexico.  His career in lighting began at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Before graduating in 2001, he lent a hand to lighting many productions each year, both faculty and student-produced, as well as debuting his first professional design at The Waterville Opera House. Matt has designed with Greater Boston Stage Company, The Boston Conservatory, Boston University, Portland Stage Company, BoSoma Dance Company, The Public Theatre, Moonbox Productions, and many others, including the Elliot Norton nominated “Little Christmas Tree Shop of Horrors” for Gold Dust Orphans.

When not working, Matt can be found at home in East Weymouth, MA with his wife Abby, son Simon and pitbull Roadie.
