Sofía Bosch Gómez is a designer, researcher, and educator focused on advancing public service innovation through inclusive design methods, civic technology, and education. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art + Design at Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media, and Design, with affiliations at the Burnes Center for Social Change and The GovLab.
Her work bridges design research and government transformation, with collaborations including the Inter-American Development Bank and the National Center for State Courts. She has led workshops in both English and Spanish for public sector professionals across the Americas. Her practice combines an understanding of public institutions and their challenges with participatory design methods. Prior to entering academia, Sofía worked in service design and design research for both the Mexico City government and the Mexican federal government.
She holds a PhD in Design from Carnegie Mellon University, where she served as a Teaching Fellow; an MA in Design: Critical Practice from Goldsmiths, University of London (as a Chevening Scholar); and a BFA in Design from Concordia University in Montreal. Sofía has a deep commitment to mentoring students and support the next generation of civic-minded designers.
