Tamzid Hossain is a researcher, lecturer, and interaction designer based in Boston, Massachusetts. His research sits at the intersection of Extended Reality (XR), Embodied Cognition, and Human-Machine Interaction (HMI), examining how mixed reality and multisensory integration reshape human experience, perception, and cognition. His work spans intuitive interaction techniques for mixed reality and haptic systems that let humans perceive and operate in environments beyond their immediate physical reach; with a broader goal of designing technologies that work in closer alignment with how humans perceive, think, and act.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Design and Media at the College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) at Northeastern University, where he works as a graduate research assistant in the Reality Design Lab under the supervision of Prof. Wallace Lages. His ongoing work investigates uni-manual mid-air gesture interaction in augmented reality, alongside new research on haptic teleoperation and sensorimotor mapping between humans and robotic platforms.

Tamzid earned his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, graduating first in his class of 110. His undergraduate research on the social acceptability of head- and eye-based interaction with mobile devices was published at the ACM International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia (MUM 2021), and he has also contributed to published work on immersive three-dimensional data visualization. Before joining Northeastern, he served as a Lecturer in Computer Science and Engineering at United International University (on leave), where he taught courses including Human-Computer Interaction, Data Structure and Algorithms, and Operating Systems.
