Supporting staff training & development at a world-class firm

Area of Emphasis: Organizational/Interpersonal Communication

After his second co-op at Harvard Medical School as a community program coordinator, Tylik was looking for an opportunity to familiarize himself with the world of consulting and sharpen his organizational communication skills. And he started at the top – with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a multinational management consulting firm with 82 offices in 26 countries. With more than 12,000 employees, BCG was ranked second in Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2015.

As a Staffing, Training & Career Development Intern, Tylik assisted with tracking and updating case assignments, supporting performance evaluation processes, executing local training programs for consulting staff, and designing a case staffing system for associates across the North American region.

“The most interesting part of my co-op experience was the inclusive aspect of Boston Consulting Group. While working there, I feel like an actual employee instead of an intern. I was given the same responsibility and respect as my co-workers. I was given the opportunity to sit in on meetings with partners and consultants and discuss the overall philosophy of the company. I had an opinion that mattered and ultimately resulted in local and regional changes.”
