Three graduating students from the Northeastern University School of Architecture have earned major national recognition this spring, reflecting the program’s commitment to design excellence, social engagement, and emerging leadership in the built environment.
Sabiha Sultana Miahjee has been named the national undergraduate winner of the 2026 Dr. Charles Fountain Scholar Award, presented by the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture. The award honors Black, Indigenous, and students of color who demonstrate exceptional leadership and design excellence while advancing solutions to contemporary challenges in the field of landscape architecture.Miahjee

Joseph Quan and H. Wyatt Waters were both selected for Metropolis magazine’s Future 100 Architecture Undergraduate Winners program, which identifies the most promising 100 graduating architecture students, establishing them as rising voices in the profession.
Awardees are recognized for excellence in research and experimentation, along with addressing community, culture, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Nominated by Dr. Zorana Matić, Visiting Associate Teaching Professor in the School of Architecture, both students were praised for work that bridges rigorous analytical thinking with deep social and environmental commitment.

Quan’s portfolio was recognized for moving fluidly across ecological systems, architectural strategies, and district-scale design with scholarly depth and representational excellence. Waters was celebrated for pairing technical sophistication with a steadfast dedication to socially engaged urban design and community well-being.
